Brett Budden, MD

Dr. Brett Budden is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained vitreoretinal surgeon who specializes in the medical and surgical management of diseases affecting the vitreous and retina. He completed his Ophthalmology residency in 2016 at Louisiana State University and Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, where he served as Chief resident during his senior year of residency. Dr. Budden went on to complete a two-year fellowship at Tulane University Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center focused on the medical and surgical management of diseases of the vitreous and retina.

Dr. Budden’s main interests are the diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments as well as other pathology affecting the vitreous, macula, and retina.

Dr. Budden continues to work part-time at the Veterans Affairs Hospital where he assists in the clinical and surgical training of both LSU and Tulane Ophthalmology residents as well as continuing to care for the state’s veteran population.

Dr. Budden has been practicing in the greater New Orleans and Metairie area since 2018.

Dr. Budden and his wife, Clare, live in Lakeview with their two daughters, Victoria (2017) and Eliza (2020).
